The male wolf moved slowly to the river. "Little Sis, this is the way to hunt for fish." "But I don't want the fish, they stink and are icky" "They will taste better in our bellies little one. I have to teach you to hunt if we are going to survive without mother and father." But before the fish could be taken out of the water a shot resounded. The older wolf hid his sister in the brush. A hunter came out of the shadows. "Die wolf." He shot the wolf in the head, sending blood splatting onto the grass. The Hunter smiled and left the wolf to die, It wasn't like he was going anywhere. He would come back for it later. They young wolf ran back out, "ZANE!!!!!"
She opened her eyes. The tears had come again. She looked up at the moon. Her dreams had brought her to the river, one foot already in the stream.
She looked at the water, the blood long washed away from the spot where her brother had died. She was laying on the spot where he had fallen. She had nuzzled his corpse in this spot. She had killed the hunter in the same spot.
A small bush was now growing near her back paws. The beautiful red flowers filling the area with it's scent. She put her head near the water. She sighed. Maybe tonight would finally be the night. She had waited for the hunters to come for her, but they never did. She waited alone. The tears flowed freely once more.

Silver eyes seemed to glow in the dark, reflecting eerily in the light of the moon. It made the creature that owned them look soulless, but that could not be farther from the truth.
Large paws brought Jarl to the river. He had decided to explore the surrounding lands without asking his Alphena for permission. Uncharacteristic for him sure, but he had needed to get away. Needed to find himself away from the influences of her, and of her daughter, Riot.
The brute shook his head, and his thirsty tongue lolled from his mouth. He smelled water nearby. Picking up his gate, the brute headed in the direction of the river, the sounds of its flowing hitting his auds before the sight of it did.
It wasn't, however, until he was within a few paces of the bank, that he smelled another wolf. A femme. He bowed his head as he passed her and entered the water, far enough from her side so as to not make her uncomfortable or nervous. His intentions, if the brute had any past getting a drink, were honorable.
"Good evening m'lady," he paused, lapping heavily at the water, before turning his silver orbs to her, meeting her gaze. "What brings one such as you out here on your own in the night?" He smelled the salt of her tears, and felt the pang of her grief in his own breast, but spoke nothing of it. It was still too soon for him, too soon to stand back objectively and make a decision. The brute awaited her response.

She looked at wolf, only for a moment. His eyes shone like Zane's once had. She looked back down. From the scent of him, he was from a warrior clan, if the size didn't give him away. His eyes were that of a noble wolf and he wouldn't like the likes of her around him.
She sighed. He shouldn't be talking to him. He could rip her to shreds if he wanted.
"You are in unchartered territory. Go away before you are caught by the pack. Your mate will need you." Her green eyes were serious. She had a sore spot for nice guys but she wouldn't and couldn't stop Kain from ripping him apart if He was caught with her.
The wolf smelled of an unmated kind. She turned to the bush that grew behind her, the blood red roses appealing to her. Zane was like this wolf so much so that if she had seen him anywhere else she might have lost her mind. Her mind was shattered enough as it was. More tears found there way down her tear stained cheeks.
She heard the owl as it swooped down as it caught its prey, the mouse's heart beating in absolute terror as its cries of death approached it's door.
She looked back at the wolf, feeling as the mouse might have been feeling. She wouldn't dare show it to her pack mates, let alone a complete stranger. She went down to the river and put a paw back in it as the laid back down.

The silver-eyed brute watched the femme mysteriously. What had brought her out here, so late in the eve, and on her own? She was pretty, but Jarl had yet to have seen enough femme's to be a good judge. Especially now that his pack had been reduced to the ruins that it currently lay in. Though he attempted to meet her gaze with his own, he lowered his ears and whined. She seemed nervous, unsure of his intentions. He wanted to let her know that he wished her no harm, even if he made a fool of himself in the process. He shook his large head at the she-wolf phrase. "No, m'lady. I am of no pack, a loner, and as of yet, posess no mate. There is nothing for me to hurry back too..." He paused. It was better to let her think him a loner wolf, then to give away his pack. "Pray tell me how one such as yourself finds herself out here on a night like this?"The large brute noticed her tears, and just barely with-held himself from licking them from her face. It was an intimate move, that he was sure would make the she-wolf uncomfortable. "I come only with friendly intentions, what ails thee?" He lowered his head, glancing up at her with soft, silver eyes. His tail wagged, and his ears flattened. Even for his opposing size, the brute was quite talented at appearing half that, and of no harm. Intimidating skills worked both ways. The brute tilted his cranium curiously, and awaited a reply.

"Wolf, I'm fine. Go away and bother other femme who will fall for your lies." Her tongue was as sharp as her mind. He didn't need to know why she was here nor would she tell him. She didn't look at him, for her once icy glare wouldn't stand a chance against the wolf who was Zane's clone.
She sighed again. The tears had finally stopped falling. Her eyes were still wet from the tears. The bloodshot eyes were red and swollen. The one wolf she needed, that was still alive, didn't even notice her existance. She wouldn't be missed if she died tonight. She wasn't a vital part of the pack. She never had been, Why keep lying to herself?
She moved into the river, most of her form getting wet. What the male was doing here she had no business of knowing. She waited for a few moments and then swiped a fish out of the water, suffocating it's lungs with the pure air as it slapped on the ground. It would make a good meal for the brute if He wished to take it.
After the fish had stopped moving she looked at the wolf indicating he was to eat it. She didn't need the fish where she was going.
"Eat. You will need it for the journey ahead." She said as she moved to lay down IN the river, hopefully to finally drown and join her beloved brother.

One working left ear picked up her harsh phrase, and the brute recoiled slightly. He really intended her no harm. Vicious he was not, and he couldn't understand why this femme rejected his presence so. Maybe, like him, she simply wished to be left alone. He turned away, saddened at her blatant mistrust of him, but turned back again as he heard her go into the water. Curiously, he watched as she flung a fish up onto the bank. She indicated that he should eat it. Jarl was confused. Why was she, who obviously had a strong dislike of him, attempting to feed him? It didn't make any sense? Then again, she had refused to meet his eyes, and that was an almost instant procuration of his mistrust. He didn't trust a wolf, brute or bitch, that couldn't meet his gaze. The brute refused the fish, hoping that maybe the she-wolf would eat of it instead. He had no long journey, and wasn't hungry anyway. Silver orbs widened however, as the strange, semi-irrational wolf, moved to lay down in the river. She was going to drown herself! Now the brute understood why she had confused him so. He had made the mistake of attempting to apply reason to madness. Terrified, but determined to save this young wolf's life, he let out a booming how, hoping any around might hear, and come to his aid, before charging into the frothy waves, mouth agape, and aiming to latch his teeth around her neck-scruff. Whether he gained a hold or not, could only be determined by the she-wolf's own movements.

The water rushed past her muzzle. It was cold like Zane was. The water swallowed every part of her. She saw a glimmer, a light if you will, ahead. She was about to go towards it when suddenly she felt the brute's teeth around her scruff. She growled. "wolf....why attempt to save me? I'm not worth it in the end." She looked at his eyes from the corner of her gaze.
Her tears fell again. He was like Zane. The wolf was so kind and Caring that it was unsettling. She whimpered. She missed her brother so much. The water just carried her tears. "Wolf...You remind me of someone who was once my key to survival."
She shook out of his grasp. She went back on the back and looked him in the eyes. "Please...eat....It would make me feel a bit better" she a bit and nosed the fish toward him. Her mind was starting to wrap around this wolf."Please brother...eat..." She looked at him. He was becoming more and more like her brother. She laid down and whimpered again, her broken mind starting to shatter. she moved the fish closer to the brute and looked at his eyes pleadingly. If the didn't eat she might as well got and jump off of the waterfall few miles down the stream. "Brother.....You must be hungry....it's been so long...You have to eat....I want you to eat brother...Please.." She lowered her ears.

Jarl felt relief, satisfied, as his jaws clamped safely around the wet femme, and he was able to pull her to air. The brute didn't think he could stand to see another wolf die, not just yet, not after what had happened. Memories of that tragedy revived, and the cold water eased his physical scars, the burns that still ached in that dull painful way. It frustrated him that the blisters were so easily soothed, then the pang in his chest that made his heart constrict was not. That in time, these marks would heat, but would his heart? No, it would probably ache for eternity. So easy was it for the physical world to forget, forgive and move on. He wished the wounds wouldn't heal, so he would always feel the pain of what he did and didn't do. Feel the gnaw of regret, of grief, of guilt. The she-wolf's tears appeared once more, and the large brute snapped out of his reverie. "No, m'lady, you are very much worth it. You have a life, a beautiful gift of life, and that is a very precious thing." Of course, Jarl really didn't believe his own words. He wished it had been him that had died in the fire, burned and seared alive instead of his best friend, his alpha, the one would he might have called brother. Jarl himself would have been willing to throw it all away, but there were a few things, ties, that kept him stuck to his pack. He wouldn't...couldn't leave them just yet. Just like this young femme must have something worth living for in her own pack. She spoke again, and he smiled at her. So she had lost someone to, had she? "They can be your key to survival again. Would it not be better to live for them? Instead of die pointlessly and alone?" He followed her back onto the shore, and shook the water vigourously from his thick pelt. It was then that she offered him the fish once again. He was about to refuse, but for that desperate look in her eyes. There was something wrong, and she was continuously calling him brother. It clicked in the older wolf's brain, that her's, in its maddened state, had superimposed her brother's image over his own. He was no longer a stranger to her, but her own kin, her own flesh and blood. Jarl shook his head, and finally bent to eat the fish. He ate only half though, and nudged the rest towards her. "Here m'lady, you need this more then I do. Rest and recover your strength. Then you must return to your pack." He moved away, but sat down within speaking distance. He would not leave this wolf alone until another from her pack either arrived, or she returned to them. She would not die on his watch, not if he could help it. "My name is Jarl," he spoke quietly, hoping to not frighten or disturb her. "What do they call you, lady of the night?"

She looked at him and laid by him. she nosed the fish. "I don' t need it. I've missed you so much....." She nuzzled his side. He was warm once again. "I thought.....I thought...I don't want think about it....just don't leave me again...." she smiled and closed her eyes. She stared into his side. He even smelled like Zane.
She rubbed against him. It was so nice to be able to rub against him again. She smiled and licked his sides. She was back to a puppy like state. She wagged her tail. He was so warm and fluffy. "Why....Why did you leave me? I was only a pup...." She obviously hadn't heard him when he had spoken. To her, he was still the big Brother Zane that had left her do to a hunter. She was still in a state fo shock.
Then He spoke his name. "Relfection....Why did you change your name? I like your old name better brother..." She looked up at him. "I liked Zane better....It's prettier....Eat the rest of the fish Zane..." She looked at him, her eyes still pleading him. He went against his sides and then then started crying. "Promise not to leave me again....Promise." Her words were desperateand pleading. She couldn't lose her brother again. He was the only thing that was keeping her alive. "Protect me from myself Zane......" She kept crying until she eventually fell into a light slumber.

Different feelings flittered through the brute's mind as she nuzzled into his side. He had never been so touched, not by his pack mates, and most certainly not by a femme. His gaze softened more, and he had to fight against the urge to promise he wouldn't leave her. He couldn't promise that...he was a brute that always kept his word, and to go so blatantly against it as he would have to do...he sighed, and thought of himself in disgust. Why hadn't he had just left the femme from the start? There's no saying she would have killed herself anyway...maybe she wouldn't have, and he wouldn't be in this situation.
But the truth was before the brute, whether he wanted to see it or not. His presence had caused this problem, and it was up to him to remedy it.
When she quested as to why he had left...he had no answer for her. His gaze broke from her's, and Jarl stared out at the river, hoping against hope to find an answer there hidden.
"Reflection, I..." He trailed off. She was convinced that he was Zane, her brother. His mind had not yet made itself up, and so to stall, the brute finished off the fish, though he didn't need it, and was not in the least but hungry.
The she wolf begged him to promise not to leave, begged him to protect her. He didn't have an answer for her, not yet at any rate. He just sat there with her, quietly, until she fell asleep.
The choices were now before him. He could run, vanish into the night, and hope that this troubled femme would awake her old self. Or he could wait here for her to awake.
He couldn't promise he wouldn't leave her, unless....if he were to get her to join his pack, to take her with him. Then he could look after her. Perhaps help her come out of this madness and return to normal. To help her be a healthy, functioning wolf again. He signed, wrought with indecision. The stress of the situation only made things worse. He knew he had only a small time until Reflection awoke again...so he must decide quickly. That nearly drove him into a panic. Responsibility drove him to stay, fear and laziness to leave. There was no other choice, no middle ground, as a wolf from her pack had yet to answer his call. The brute stood from her side, and began to pace. Usually he was so sure, so set in his ways, that he knew what to do. But this time...well this was quite the conundrum he had put himself in. To leave, or stay? What would be better for the femme? That, he knew not. She could get better if he left, but then, she could be worse, if she did not revive her mind from this reverted state in which it had entered. Jarl's tail swished nervously, claws digging into the ground. Finally, he made up his mind. He wouldn't go far, instead he would hide near by and watch her. If she still suffered when she awoke, he would return to her, and try to get her to his pack. If she was as if he had never been...then he would follow her till she reached Rafaern, before returning home for the eve.
So silently as he could, the brute slipped off into the night, and it became as if he never was.
OOC: XD couldn't decide what to do, so picked a new way out. I'm really hoping someone from Raf will hop on here and post with Reflection. *pokes Wulfie* Guess we'll have to wait.

She awoke shortly after he had gotten up. She saw his form disappearing into the woods. She teared up again. "Why?......Don't you care about me anymore?" She curled up and cried. It was true. No one wanted her...Not even her own brother. She howled. What was so wrong with her that she was that repulsive?
"No one cares...." Her eyes quivers and she howled into the light of the moon. It was a sad long howl that meant she was alone, alone and ready to die. She was letting others know that If anyone cared, then she needed them now. She really needed someone to comfort her. She started pacing. "No one cares....No one cares.....No one................cares." He plopped on the ground and started balling her eyes out. The tears came with silence. There was no point in making noises wih tears. She curled around the bush. He left her again. He didn't care....who cares about a wolf with no one?
The moon became hidden by the clouds. In the darkness, a human watched the wolf. The hunter aimed the gun at the small she wolf. It didn't seem like on of the Karn wolves so it was free game to kill.. It would be to easy to kill the wolf. The gun fired and missed by an inch but the wolf didn't seem to notice. It seem like it was ready to die and had given up the fight against life.

The truth was plain. Jarl hated himself. Here, he had caused so much pain, so much unnecessary strife. His ears and tail lowered, and he drew a shuddering breath.
Though he had yet to really speak of it aloud to anyone, he blamed himself for the fire, for the death of all his friends. And now, he had caused this pretty young femme so much pain. Jarl loathed his own presence. His own being. Maybe he was the cause of all this death, of the fact that his pack’s corpses lay, charred and rotting upon the fire-scorched earth. He was very obviously the catalyst that had caused this young wolf’s separation with reality. The brute cursed himself, truly ashamed, and hating what he had done. He should have just left when she requested him to. He should have never stayed, not for any of it. In fact, he probably shouldn’t have left his pack territories at all. He had taken a risk in coming here, a risk in being discovered by another pack. It was a stupid risk really, but one he had felt he needed to take, to get away from it all. To be alone. Jarl shook his great head, and flopped down onto the ground just inside the nearby trees.
He wondered for a moment, if there would ever be a time when he didn’t hate himself anymore, didn’t wish he could sleep forever, didn’t enjoy his dreams more then his waking life, didn’t constantly hurt, and mourn over loved ones lost. He didn’t think so, and Jarl had long since lost his faith in miracles. He lay his head on his paws, and hoped he might fall asleep here, sleep and forget this torturous waking world. But he knew he couldn’t. He had a responsibility, whether he liked it or not, and it was to take care of this young wolf that he had caused to go over the edge so. She needed him, and he was determined to try and fix her, one way or the other. To bring her back to normal. Jarl sighed, and was about to rise again, and go back, when two things happened simultaneously. He heard a most grievous howl, and a fat looking squirrel ran almost right in front of his snout.
He knew that Reflection had awoken to find him gone, and it was quite clear by her saddened tone that she had not snapped out of it as he might have hoped she would. That left only one choice. Find a good reason for leaving her side, and then get her, as quickly as he could, to the Alphena of Cian. It wasn’t an ideal plan, but the great brute could think of nothing else.
That’s where the squirrel came in. The brute bolted upright, and quick as lighting, jaws open and slavering, Jarl charged the unsuspecting creature. He managed to grab ahold of its tail at the base, and with no hesitation, flung it into the air. The failing creature came right back down into his waiting jaws. Jarl bit down, snapping its spine, and satisfied it was dead, carried it back to Reflection. He would tell her he had been hunting, and that he had brought her a squirrel. Hopefully she wouldn’t make him eat it; the brute didn’t think he could stomach any more food.
He was halfway towards her, having yet to have called out to her, for the rodent in his maw made it difficult to talk, when he heard the gun shot, and saw dirt fly up around the femme. Without pausing, the brute dropped the squirrel, and charged towards Reflection.
“Reflection, RUN!” At this rate, if the she-wolf didn’t move, she was going to have a very large male wolf barrel straight into her. “Quick!” He yelled to her as his paws slapped the ground, wishing for once he was fleet of foot instead of heavy bodied and large boned. If only she would get up, he could lead her out of his valley and to Cian, where they would be safe. He prayed she would, but slowed his pace naught.
“REFLECTION!”

As the Dirt went flying, Reflection looked at where the bullet had come from. She looked at the hunter as if to say, "It's alright....You can kill me." Her mind was still screwed up but it was slowly forming back to it's old self. She had come to terms that this was her time to die.
Then she felt the ground start to pound beneath her. BA-BOOM, BA-BOOM. Something was coming and it was getting closer. She looked to the bush when she heard her name called. She looked to see Jarl pounding towards her.
Her expression changed quickly. She Got up and growled. "GO AWAY!!!!" It was both a warning to stay away from her and to watch out for the hunter. Then the pain hit her in the back leg. She had been shot.
She didn't make any sound. though she did shut her eyes. She felt the blood running down her leg, the sticky warm liquid leaving her body. She felt the blood pool at her back leg as another bullet hit her foreleg. She looked down at it and watch the blood flow down it as well.
She looked at Jarl. "Jarl.....I'm sorry." she fell. The blood pooling was encircling her entire body. She saw a bright light. At the end of it was Zane, the real Zane. She could feel herself detatching from her body. But her sense still worked. She could still hear Jarl. She heard the pounding of his feet. She could still smell him. She looked at Zane. He nodded, he understood. "I will still be here waiting." he smiled softly. "Until that day." The light disappeared. She opened her eyes to see the scene before her.

Jarl’s eyes widened in pure horror as the scene unfolded before him. Reflection wasn’t running, she was just laying there. She turned her head, and his eyes met up with her’s for just an instant. But in that instant, Jarl had seen everything.
Seen her pain, a mirror of his own, seen her loss, her depression, her want of death, of escape from such a cruel, cruel world, into a place where she would be with her lost loved ones again. In the end, these two were not very different. But suffered from a terrible, terrible grief. Both sought answers through suicide. He had tried to be strong for her, tried so hard, but he too had his own demons to deal with, and tell her not to kill herself when he so badly wanted to do the same made him nothing but a hypocrite. Jarl himself had given up on life, he didn’t want to live anymore, but then he had found this innocent and troubled she-wolf, and she had needed him. And he found that he wanted her to live, wanted it badly, and no matter how much she fought him, he would be there to save her life again and again, until even after she stopped trying. He didn’t care if another already owned her heart, or if they didn’t, he would be there for her, as a brother, to protect her, because that was the duty that had been given to him. He had left his pack, done what he later regretted and saw as a terrible deed, but now, it all made sense. If he hadn’t been angered so, hadn’t attacked Gawain, he wouldn’t have been here to save the life of this special femme.
And so he ran, paws pounding the ground, dashing towards Reflection as fast as he possibly could. Blood pounded in his ears, and his one good ear missed her shouting, missed her urging him off as she stood, but his molten silver eyes caught everything as the first bullet struck, blood pouring from the wound, her soft eyes closed. Jarl urged his body to move faster, he hadn’t realized he’d been so far away when he entered the forest, oh why oh why had he gone and done that stupid thing. He should have just stayed with her. Maybe then the hunter would take his pelt instead of hers. He watched in horror as another bullet made contact with her delicate frame. Blood, so much blood, he could smell it even though he was still far off, it burned his nose and made his mind swim inside his cranium. The blood still rushed in his ears, everything was so chaotic, so rushed, if only he had more time!
"Jarl.....I'm sorry."
The world seemed to stand still, everything froze, even his paws, all hanging in the balance. Then, she fell.
“REFLECTION!!” She didn’t’ move, blood was everywhere, there was so much blood. Jarl felt panicked, his legs wobbles, but he stayed on his course, charging as fast as he could towards the she-wolf. He wasn’t sure what he would do when he got there, he most surely couldn’t make her run now, not now that she had bullets in her legs. That left one thing and one thing only.
Jarl, the warrior-wolf, a general among his kind, shifted his direction, and turned. His course was sure, and though his legs were tired, his heart was strong. The hunter reeked, they were easy to find. Jarl charged him head on, and as he leapt, his silver eyes closed for just a second, but in that second he thought he saw his Alpha once again, standing proud next to Nina and Riot.
Jarl opened his eyes, and roared. OOC: XD you and Lykos are like, sucking my muse dry, lol.

She saw what Jarl was doing. She looked at him and the tears flooded. Why did he care? She got up though it pained her immensly. She looked at him as he charged the hunter. The gun was fired at But he missed as the Large wolf landed on the hunter. She saw things fly. She was about ready to pass out, but not until she had made sure that Jarl was safe.
The pain she was feelling was intense. She got up and the blood all pounded in her head. She growled at herself and then limped. It was so hard to walk. It hurt her. She was determined to get to him. She started to run. "JARL" She yelled, hoping to get to him. She couldn't run as fast as she could have without the bullets in her but the wolf pushed herself.
She got to the wolf and found the hunter dead. Jarl was ontop of him. she limped to his side. "Jarl..." She nuzzled his side. He had protected her from the man. He wasn't unscathed though. He had a cut in his shoulder. It looked like it was from a knife. There were no bullet wounds though. She licked the wound. It wasn't very deep. "Thank you...." She wasn't sure if he was okay or not but she wasn't afraid of him anymore. "You saved my life....thrice now." She smiled and licked his cheek. She smiled. she was very grateful to this wolf. "Come with me. Join my pack. Raj would like someone that would harm a human so viciously."
